SuperTrip 2014!
Basking in the glow of our recent engagement (!!!), last week Miek and I embarked on another adventure: SuperTrip 2014! We planned for over a year, and were so excited to pack our new suitcases and head for Palm Springs to take in Coachella Weekend 2, followed up by some R&R in Las Vegas.
Back home after 7 days of core-warming sun, tasty eats and celeb-sightings, I love looking through my pics snapped on my Nikon DSLR, Canon point and shoot, and Instax. Miek and I both agree that the trip was 100% perfect. From witnessing new friends getting engaged on the plane from Chicago to Palm Springs, to hearing our cab-driver’s poorly-thought-out business plan, we had the time of our lives.

Four
Two Thousand Thirteen
We are a few days into the new year, and I have already had a few of those “oh-my-god-what-am-I-doing-with-my-life” moments. Never fun, but necessary. Necessary to avoid stagnancy, to ask yourself those tough questions like “What is it I really want?” and “How do I get there from here?”
Moving forward into the new year, there are so many possibilities: opportunities to do more of what you love, opportunities to eliminate unhealthy habits, to streamline your life and strive for a balance.
Here are some of the things I’m looking forward to in 2013:
Cleaning out my closet and donating a bunch of clothes I never wear. Making home-cooked meals. Traveling to New York City and Boston to visit friends and catch shows. Learning more about my DSLR camera and Photoshop. Gaining more professional confidence. Not taking any crap. Maintaining a clean inbox. Eating good food. Singing more. Creating music.
What are you looking forward to?
Never Forget
Like most Americans, I will never forget where I was the morning of September 11, 2001. I was a sophomore in high school, in trigonometry class, when another student ran in to tell us a plane had hit a tower at the World Trade Center. The sky that day was so blue. So very blue.
I remember feeling queasy, tangibly unsafe for the first time. Despite the horrors of that day, I will never forget the way our country pulled together. I will never forget the strength, dignity and courage of American rescue workers, firefighters, police officers, politicians, teachers, parents, friends. America is special – for our unwavering beliefs, freedom, character. Nothing (not even a cowardly terrorist attack on one of our most prized cities) will ever, ever change that. God bless America.
